TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters in the Tampa area will need to plan for a slight detour later next week. Officials have announced that Harney Road will be completely shut down under the I-75 overpass for two consecutive nights. The closures are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26.

Crews will be working between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. each night to perform overhead bridge work. This construction is a key piece of the ongoing project to widen I-75 between the Tampa Bypass Canal and Fowler Avenue in Hillsborough County. While the work is planned for these specific dates, the schedule is weather-dependent and could shift if rain moves into the area.

During the shutdown, traffic will be diverted between US 301 and Williams Road. To keep things moving, the Florida Department of Transportation will have temporary signs and electronic message boards in place to guide drivers through the detour.

Safety remains a priority for the crews on the ground. Drivers are encouraged to slow down, put away distractions, and stay mindful of workers and heavy machinery moving through the zone. Following the posted speed limits will be essential as traffic patterns shift throughout the night.
