Harney Road Set For Two-Night Shutdown Under I-75

TAMPA, Fla. — Drivers who frequent the stretch of Harney Road near I-75 will need to find an alternate route early this week. FDOT officials have announced that the roadway will be completely closed to traffic underneath the interstate on Monday, March 9, and Tuesday, March 10.

The shutdowns are scheduled for overnight hours, specifically from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., provided that weather conditions remain favorable for construction.

The closure affects the segment of Harney Road located between US 301 and Williams Road. According to the project details, the stoppage is required to allow construction crews to perform overhead bridge work.

This maintenance is a key component of the ongoing project to widen I-75 from the Tampa Bypass Canal to Fowler Avenue in Hillsborough County.

To help manage traffic, message boards and temporary signs will be posted along the route to guide motorists through a designated detour.

Drivers will be rerouted using US 301 and Williams Road to bypass the work site. Transportation officials are urging those traveling through the area to exercise caution, watch for changing traffic patterns, and adhere to all posted speed limits.
