TAMPA, Fla. – Starting today, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, commuters should anticipate traffic disruption on North Florida Avenue as the Tampa Water Department begins essential maintenance on the water distribution system.
The inside northbound lane of North Florida Avenue will be closed between East Virginia Avenue and East Kentucky Avenue. The closure is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM today.

Barricades and signs have been placed in the area to help reroute traffic and manage the flow. Motorists are strongly advised to consider alternate routes and to use caution when driving near the work zone.
The maintenance work is currently expected to be completed by 5:00 PM on Friday, November 7. Normal traffic patterns should resume at that time.
The Tampa Water Department noted that work schedules are contingent upon weather conditions and that modifications to the lane closures may be necessary as the work progresses. They also advised that they might need to return at a later date for additional work, with an update provided if necessary.
