Tampa Traffic Alert: Lane Closures Hit Nebraska And Waters Starting Today

TAMPA, Fla. – If you’re planning to drive through the intersection of North Nebraska and East Waters Avenue over the next few days, you might want to give yourself some extra time or look for an alternate route.

Starting at 9:00 a.m., the Tampa Water Department began closing several lanes for essential maintenance on the city’s water distribution system.

The work is affecting a few different spots at once. On North Nebraska Avenue, the outside lanes for both northbound and southbound traffic are blocked off between East Rampart Street and East Juneau Street. Meanwhile, drivers on East Waters Avenue are losing the outside westbound lane between North Mitchell Avenue and North 9th Street.

City crews have already set up barricades and signs to help guide people through the area, but officials are urging everyone to stay alert and use caution while passing through the work zones. It is also worth noting that the layout of these closures might shift slightly as maintenance progresses.

If everything stays on track and the weather holds up, the Tampa Water Department expects to reopen the lanes and traffic to return to its usual flow by 4:00 p.m. this Friday, March 27. However, this timeline isn’t set in stone, as the work depends entirely on favorable weather conditions.

The department mentioned that they might need to return at a later date to complete any remaining tasks. If that happens, they’ve promised to put out another update. In the meantime, the crews and staff say they appreciate everyone’s patience as they complete these repairs.
