Tampa Traffic Alert: Lights Out At Busy Intersection Following Single-Vehicle Crash

TAMPA, Fla. – A single-vehicle crash knocked out power to a major intersection’s traffic signals in South Tampa on Wednesday morning, prompting police to warn commuters of heavy delays.

Tampa Police officers responded to the scene at MacDill Avenue and Bay-to-Bay Boulevard after a vehicle struck and significantly damaged the traffic signal control box. The impact disabled the traffic lights at the intersection, disrupting the normal flow of morning traffic.

Repair crews are on scene to fix the damaged hardware, but officials have not yet provided a specific timeline for when the signals will be fully operational.

In the meantime, authorities are asking the public to avoid the intersection if possible to prevent severe gridlock.

“Please use alternate routes and expect delays in this area while repairs are underway,” the Tampa Police Department said in a statement.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no information has been released regarding potential injuries to the driver.
