TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers moving through downtown Tampa tonight should prepare for a detour as the southbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-4 (Exit 45B) is scheduled for a full closure. The shutdown begins at 10 p.m. tonight, Monday, March 16, and is expected to last until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning, provided weather conditions remain clear.

The closure is part of the ongoing Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project. Construction crews will be using the overnight window to perform necessary overhead bridge work.

To navigate the closure, motorists will be directed to continue south on I-275 and take Exit 45A toward Jefferson Street.

From there, drivers should stay left at the fork following signs for Downtown East, make a left turn onto Scott Street, and then follow the signs to re-enter the interstate via the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Electronic message boards and temporary signs have been positioned to guide traffic through the detour. Officials are reminding commuters to stay focused and keep a sharp lookout for pedestrians and construction personnel working near the roadway throughout the night.
