Anime Fans to Descend on Downtown, Impacting Traffic and Parking Through Sunday
TAMPA, Fla. – Downtown Tampa is bracing for a significant surge in both pedestrian and vehicular traffic this weekend as METROCON, Florida’s largest anime convention, descends upon the Tampa Convention Center from Friday, July 25, through Sunday, July 27, 2025.
Thousands of anime enthusiasts, many adorned in elaborate and vibrant character costumes, are expected to converge on the convention center and surrounding areas throughout the weekend. The convention’s extended hours, particularly on Friday and Saturday, are anticipated to contribute to the increased activity.

Key Convention Hours:
- Friday, July 25: 10:00 AM – 2:30 AM (Saturday morning)
- Saturday, July 26: 9:00 AM – 2:30 AM (Sunday morning)
- Sunday, July 27: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Local authorities are advising drivers to prepare for heavier-than-usual traffic conditions in the vicinity of the Tampa Convention Center. Parking garages nearby are also expected to experience higher demand, especially on Saturday night.
Compounding the traffic challenge on Saturday, July 26, is a Keyshia Cole concert scheduled at the Amalie Arena, which is located in close proximity to the convention center. This overlapping event is likely to draw an additional influx of concertgoers, further creating congestion in the downtown core.
