TAMPA, Fla. — Drivers heading north on North Falkenburg Road this morning should prepare for slow-moving traffic as crews return to a busy stretch of the corridor.
Starting at 9 a.m. today, the Tampa Water Department will shut down the northbound outside lane between Reeves Road and East Broadway Avenue to complete repairs to the local water system.
The closure follows previous maintenance work in the area. According to city officials, the goal of today’s project is to complete a “more permanent restoration” of the roadway. While the construction is limited to a specific block, the department warned that “modifications to lane closures may be necessary during the course of the work,” depending on how the repairs progress.

To help navigate the bottleneck, the city has placed barricades and directional signs throughout the zone. Drivers are being urged to use extra caution when passing workers and to expect minor delays through the early afternoon.
If everything goes according to plan, the lane should be back in service by 4 p.m. today, just in time for the evening rush hour.
However, the city noted that these “restoration schedules are contingent upon weather conditions.”
