TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists traveling in the Tampa area should prepare for nightly detours next week as a section of Palm Avenue will temporarily close between Central Avenue and Nebraska Avenue.
The closures are scheduled to take place nightly from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., beginning Sunday, November 2, and continuing through Thursday, November 6, weather permitting.
The temporary shutdown is necessary to allow construction crews to perform overhead bridge deck placement as part of the ongoing safety and operational improvements project for the Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4).
Detour Information
Drivers will need to use a designated detour route around the work zone:
- Detour Route: Nebraska Avenue, Columbus Drive, and Central Avenue.
Electronic message boards and signage will be posted to assist motorists navigating through the area. Officials urge drivers to use caution, remain alert for construction workers and pedestrians, and allow for extra travel time.
The overall Downtown Tampa Interchange improvement project is a major undertaking, with all construction activities currently expected to be completed by 2027.
