Tampa Traffic Alert: South Dale Mabry Lane Squeeze Starts This Morning

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa drivers should prepare for a bit of a bottleneck on their morning commute today, March 19. Starting at 9:00 AM, crews from the Tampa Water Department are shutting down the outside northbound lane of South Dale Mabry Highway.

The closure stretches between West Marlin Avenue and West Ballast Point Boulevard, right in the heart of the South Tampa corridor.

The lane restriction is necessary for maintenance on the local water distribution system.

While the work is underway, the city has placed barricades and directional signage throughout the area to help guide motorists around the site. City officials are urging everyone behind the wheel to stay alert and use extra caution while passing through the work zone.

If all goes according to plan, the orange cones should be gone and traffic patterns returned to normal by 4:00 PM this afternoon. However, the Water Department noted that “modifications may be necessary during the course of the work” and that the final timeline depends heavily on the weather.
