TAMPA, Fla. – Commuters should anticipate significant delays as a section of South Himes Avenue in Tampa has been completely closed for an emergency water main repair.
Starting at 9 a.m. today, all lanes of South Himes Avenue between Jean Circle and South Frankland Road are closed to traffic. The closure is necessary for the Tampa Water Department to repair a broken water main.
Barricades and signs have been deployed in the affected area to help direct traffic around the closure. The Tampa Water Department urges all drivers to use caution and patience when navigating nearby streets.
The work is expected to take several days.
Normal traffic patterns are projected to resume by 4 p.m. on Friday, October 24, provided there are no unforeseen complications. However, the completion schedule is contingent upon weather conditions and the Tampa Water Department notes that modifications to the schedule may be necessary as the work progresses.
