TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Water Department will be closing all lanes of South Hoover Boulevard between West Azeele Street and West Cleveland Street starting at 9 a.m. today, Wednesday, March 4. The emergency closure is required to allow crews to repair a water main break in the area.

In addition to the Hoover Boulevard closure, the westbound lane of West Azeele Street is currently shut down between South Obrien Street and South Hoover Boulevard. Traffic continues to flow in both directions between Sandpiper Road and West Azeele Street.

City officials have placed barricades and signs in the vicinity to assist with the detour. Drivers are advised to use caution when traveling near the work zone, as modifications to the traffic flow may be necessary as the repair progresses.

According to the Tampa Water Department, the work is expected to be completed with a return to normal traffic patterns by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 9.

This schedule is contingent upon weather conditions.
