TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Water Department has partially reopened South West Shore Boulevard following a total road closure earlier today. As of Tuesday afternoon, February 10, the southbound lane between West Fair Oaks Avenue and West Alline Avenue is once again accessible to motorists.

While the northbound lane remains closed for ongoing water main repairs, officials have implemented a traffic shift to maintain flow in both directions. Northbound vehicles are currently being diverted into the center turn lane to bypass the work zone.

Barricades and updated signage have been placed throughout the area to guide drivers through the new traffic pattern. City representatives continue to urge motorists to use caution and remain alert for workers, as the configuration may change depending on the progress of the repairs.

Despite the partial reopening, the Tampa Water Department still estimates that a full return to normal traffic patterns will not occur until 4:00 PM on Friday, February 13. This timeline is subject to change based on weather conditions and the potential need for additional maintenance at a later date.

All lanes between West Fair Oaks Avenue and West Alline Avenue are currently inaccessible to through traffic while the Tampa Water Department conducts emergency repairs.

The closure, which began on February 10, is supported by a system of barricades and directional signage intended to manage local traffic flow. However, this schedule remains contingent on favorable weather conditions. Officials also noted that while the road is expected to reopen Friday, crews may need to return at a later date to perform additional maintenance or permanent restoration work.

The department has stated that updates will be provided if the scope of work changes or if additional closures are required. In the meantime, commuters are encouraged to seek alternate routes to avoid delays in the South West Shore area.
