TAMPA, Fla. – Motorists traveling through downtown Tampa need to prepare for significant, nightly detours as the southbound I-275 ramp to eastbound I-4 (Exit 45B) will be temporarily closed across multiple dates for construction.

The closure will occur nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the following schedule, weather permitting:

  • Tuesday, November 18, through Thursday, November 20
  • Sunday, November 23, through Tuesday, November 25

Drivers planning to use the southbound I-275 ramp (Exit 45B) to access eastbound I-4 will be routed along an official detour:

  1. Continue South on I-275 past the closed ramp.
  2. Exit I-275 using Exit 45A (Jefferson Street).
  3. Keep Right at the fork toward Downtown East.
  4. Turn Left onto Scott Street.
  5. Re-enter the interstate using the eastbound I-4 entrance ramp.

Advanced warning signs and message boards will be placed to assist motorists navigating the detour. Drivers are urged to remain alert for construction workers and pedestrians in the work zone.

This temporary ramp closure is necessary for construction crews to install temporary lighting as part of the ongoing Downtown Tampa Interchange (I-275/I-4) Safety and Operational Improvements project.
