Tampa Traffic Alert: Southbound North Central Avenue Shut Down For Water Line Repairs

TAMPA, Fla. — Southbound traffic on North Central Avenue is facing delays today as city crews perform routine maintenance on the local water distribution system.

The Tampa Water Department closed the southbound lane between East Osborne Avenue and West Cayuga Street starting at 7 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2. The work is scheduled for completion by 4 p.m., assuming weather conditions allow the maintenance to move forward without interruption.

City crews have set up barricades and detour signs along the affected stretch to help direct traffic around the work zone. Drivers traveling through the area are asked to exercise caution or use alternate routes to avoid potential bottlenecks. The department noted that adjustments to the lane closures may be required as work progresses throughout the day.

“The staff and crews of the Tampa Water Department appreciate everyone’s patience during this time,” the department stated in a release Sunday morning.

Normal traffic flow on North Central Avenue is expected to resume by late Sunday afternoon once repairs are wrapped up.
