TAMPA, Fla. – A water main break has prompted an immediate lane closure on a busy stretch of North Nebraska Avenue, affecting drivers heading north through the area.

The Tampa Water Department announced Thursday that the northbound lane is currently blocked off between East Genesee Street and East North Bay Street.

Crews are actively working to repair the line, with barricades and directional signs already in place to help route traffic around the work zone.

Officials estimate the repairs will continue into Friday. The road is scheduled to reopen to normal traffic patterns by 4 p.m. tomorrow, December 12.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution when passing through the construction area.

The Water Department noted that while they aim to finish by Friday afternoon, crews may need to return at a later date for additional work. The current schedule is also dependent on weather conditions.
