TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa drivers face a sudden detour this morning as crews rush to repair a water main break on East Columbus Drive. Effective 8 a.m. today, officials have shut down all lanes between North 27th Street and North 28th Street.

The Tampa Water Department is currently on the scene, with barricades and signage guiding traffic away from the work zone. Motorists are urged to drive carefully near the closure or find an alternate route to avoid delays.

According to city officials, the repair work is expected to wrap up by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 16, allowing traffic patterns to return to normal.

However, crews note that the schedule depends on weather conditions and that they may need to return later for additional maintenance.
