TAMPA, Fla. – If your daily drive takes you near the intersection of West Sligh Avenue and North Albany Avenue, you are going to want to find a different route. Starting at 9 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, January 27, crews shut down several lanes to fix a water main break.

The Tampa Water Department has completely closed all lanes on North Albany Avenue between West Sligh Avenue and West Norfolk Street. The closures affect Sligh Avenue as well. If you are driving west on Sligh, the outside lane is blocked off from North Fremont Avenue to North Howard Avenue.

You will see barricades and signs in the area to help guide traffic, but drivers should expect delays and be extra careful, watching out for workers. The city hopes to have the pipe fixed and the roads back to normal by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29.

However, that timeline could change depending on the weather or if the repairs turn out to be more complicated than expected. Crews might need to return later for finishing touches, but for now, plan for a few days of detours.
