TAMPA, Fla. — Commuters traveling through Tampa should prepare for delays on Anderson Road starting Monday morning.

Crews from the Tampa Water Department are currently on the scene repairing a water main break, forcing a lane closure that could impact traffic flow for the next 48 hours.

At 9 a.m. Monday, January 19, the outside northbound lane of Anderson Road is closed. The closure affects the stretch of road between West Sligh Avenue and Pioneer Park Boulevard.

Officials stated that the repair zone also encompasses the adjacent sidewalk and bike lane, which are now blocked off for safety. Drivers can expect to see barricades and signage directing traffic around the work site.

The Water Department aims to have the repairs finished and normal traffic patterns restored by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20.

However, the timeline is not set in stone. Officials noted that work schedules depend heavily on weather conditions. There is also a possibility that crews may need to return at a future date to finalize the project, though an update will be issued if further disruption is necessary.

Motorists are urged to use extra caution when navigating the area or to seek alternate routes to avoid congestion while the heavy equipment is in operation.
