TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers taking North Boulevard this week should plan for a few delays. Starting at 9 a.m. today, December 9, a portion of the road will be closed while crews repair a water main break.

The Tampa Water Department is shutting down the southbound lane of North Boulevard between West 109th Avenue and Newport Circle. Barricades and signs are already going up to guide traffic around the work zone.

The closure isn’t continuous, however. To help ease the evening commute, crews will reopen all lanes at 4 p.m. each day. The southbound lane will close again at 9 a.m. the following morning to let work continue.

If the weather holds up, officials expect the repairs to be finished and traffic patterns returned to normal by 4 p.m. on Friday, December 12. Drivers are urged to use extra caution when passing through the area while crews are present.
