TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers in Tampa should prepare for some extra brake lights starting this morning. Beginning at 9:00 AM today, May 8, the Tampa Water Department is shutting down the westbound lane of East Osborne Avenue between North 31st Street and North 30th Street.
The closure is necessary to allow crews to perform essential maintenance on the city’s water distribution system.
Commuters won’t have to deal with the headache 24/7, however. The lane is scheduled to reopen every evening at 4:00 PM, and the road will remain fully accessible throughout the weekend. To keep things moving, the city is deploying barricades and flaggers to the scene to help direct drivers around the work zone.

While the city expects to have everything wrapped up and traffic patterns back to normal by 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 12, officials cautioned that the timeline depends entirely on the weather. They also noted that the specifics of the lane closures might shift slightly as the maintenance progresses.
If you usually take this route, you might want to look for a shortcut.
