TAMPA, Fla. — If your daily drive takes you down North Boulevard, you might want to plan for a few extra minutes behind the wheel this week.

Starting at 9 a.m. this morning, Tuesday, Jan. 20, crews are shutting down the southbound lane of North Boulevard between West Waters Avenue and West Sitka Avenue. The closure is necessary for the Tampa Water Department to run essential maintenance on the local water distribution system.

This isn’t a 24/7 closure, but it will affect the bulk of the work week. The lane will be blocked off daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., reopening in the evenings to let overnight traffic pass through.

Drivers moving through the area should keep an eye out for barricades and flaggers, who will be on-site to help direct traffic around the work zone.

The city expects the project to wrap up by 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, assuming the weather cooperates. Until then, officials are asking for patience and urging drivers to exercise caution near the work crews.
