TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers navigating downtown Tampa this week will need to plan for a few extra minutes on their commute. As of Monday, December 1, new road closures are in effect around East Scott Street while crews tackle essential maintenance on the city’s water distribution system.
The Tampa Water Department has shut down all lanes of East Scott Street between North Florida Avenue and North Morgan Street.
The work is also impacting nearby North Marion Street, where the northbound lane is now closed to traffic between East Scott Street and East Laurel Street.

Barricades and detour signs are already in place to guide drivers around the work zones. Motorists are urged to slow down and stay alert for workers in the area, as traffic patterns may shift slightly as the project progresses.
City officials aim to have the repairs finished and roads fully reopened by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 5. However, that timeline depends on the weather holding up; heavy rain or storms could push the completion date back.
