TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Water Department is beginning maintenance on the local distribution system today, April 28, resulting in daily lane closures on a stretch of West Fair Oaks Avenue.
Crews will close the westbound lane between South Renellie Drive and West Chapin Avenue starting at 9 a.m. To manage traffic flow, barricades and flaggers will be stationed throughout the work zone.
The construction schedule is designed to accommodate peak travel times, with all lanes scheduled to reopen daily at 5 p.m., then close again the following morning at 9 a.m. City officials are advising motorists to seek alternate routes and exercise caution while driving near the work site.

The project is expected to be completed, with normal traffic patterns restored, by 4 p.m. on Friday, May 1. However, officials noted that “work schedules are contingent upon weather conditions” and “modifications may be necessary during the course of the work.”
The Tampa Water Department issued a statement regarding the project, noting that “staff and crews of the Tampa Water Department appreciate everyone’s patience during this time.”
