TAMPA, Fla. – A welfare check at a Seminole Heights home took a dark turn Wednesday night, launching a homicide investigation that spans across two Florida counties.

Officers with the Tampa Police Department arrived at a residence on the 1200 block of East Frierson Avenue on Dec. 17 after receiving a request from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. Inside the home, police discovered the body of an adult male who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

While details remain fluid, investigators have confirmed a significant lead: they believe the killing is directly connected to an ongoing homicide case currently being worked by deputies in Manatee County.

Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim or named a specific suspect. However, detectives indicated that the victim and the shooter likely knew each other. Police emphasized that this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the general public.

The investigation is now moving into a legal phase as detectives consult with the State Attorney’s Office to weigh potential charges.

Tampa Police say the case remains active and ongoing.
