A 48-year-old woman is in custody after authorities say she confessed to killing her roommate and fleeing the scene in his vehicle. Shannon Rose Giblin was arrested on charges of non-premeditated murder and grand theft of a motor vehicle following an investigation that spanned two counties.

The incident began on the evening of March 8, 2026, when Charlotte County deputies arrived at a home on Gewant Boulevard in Punta Gorda to investigate a report of a person not breathing. Inside the residence, they discovered the body of 76-year-old Paul De Wayne Bradley.

According to investigators, Bradley was already deceased when help arrived.

While processing the scene, the Major Crimes Unit noticed that the victim’s pickup truck was missing from the driveway. Using investigative technology, detectives tracked the vehicle’s movement into Sarasota County.

After sharing this information with neighboring law enforcement, members of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office located the truck and detained Giblin, who was inside.

During questioning by Charlotte County detectives, Giblin admitted to stabbing Bradley during an argument. Authorities stated that after Giblin realized Bradley was dead, she covered his body with a tarp and left the property in his truck.

In a statement following the arrest, Sheriff Bill Prummell praised the coordination between the two agencies.

“I want to recognize my Major Crimes detectives who worked this case through the night and identified the suspect quickly,” Prummell said. “I also want to thank the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office for their quick actions in locating and detaining her based on the intelligence my team was able to share.”

Giblin is currently being held without bond as the legal process moves forward.
