PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – A 35-year-old Tarpon Springs woman sustained serious injuries early Wednesday morning after the car she was driving rear-ended a concrete pumping truck on Klosterman Road in an incident reported by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).
The crash occurred at approximately 5:46 AM, just west of Lillian Avenue, troopers say.
According to the FHP, the woman was driving a Nissan Sentra eastbound on Klosterman Road. Traveling ahead of her was a concrete pumping truck, driven by a 66-year-old St. Petersburg man, also heading eastbound.
The accident occurred when traffic slowed. The FHP investigation indicates the Tarpon Springs woman failed to stop in time and struck the rear of the heavy truck.
The woman suffered serious injuries in the collision and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the concrete pumping truck was not reported to have been injured.
The FHP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
