RUSKIN, Fla. – A 15-year-old boy faces an attempted murder charge after another teenager was stabbed during a sidewalk fight Monday afternoon in Hillsborough County.
Deputies with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were called to a 7-Eleven at 2371 E. Shell Point Road around 3:06 p.m. on August 24 following reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, first responders found a teenage boy suffering from a stab wound to his arm.
Deputies provided emergency first aid and secured a tourniquet on the victim’s arm before paramedics transported him to a nearby hospital, where medical staff listed him in critical but stable condition.
According to investigators, a physical altercation broke out among a group of teenagers along the sidewalk on Shell Point Road, during which the victim was stabbed.
Detectives subsequently identified 15-year-old Stephon Roundtree as the suspect. Deputies located Roundtree a short distance from the scene and took him into custody without incident.
Authorities arrested Roundtree and formally charged him with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree with a Weapon.
“Violence of any kind has no place in our community. We will always act swiftly and decisively to hold those responsible accountable,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement. “I want to thank our deputies for their fast response and lifesaving actions on scene. Their quick thinking made the difference for this young victim.”
The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office stated that the investigation remains active and ongoing.
