ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A 14-year-old boy has died and a 16-year-old is facing murder charges after a street shooting in St. Petersburg last night turned fatal.
The incident unfolded just after 6:30 p.m. in the 4200 block of 15th Avenue South. According to police, Gaige Santos-Brown, 14, was standing in the area when three teenagers approached him. Gunfire broke out, leaving Santos-Brown critically wounded. Paramedics rushed the teenager to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators upgraded the case to a homicide investigation overnight after tracking down one of the individuals allegedly involved. Police arrested 16-year-old Kenneth Washington and charged him with Felony Murder and Violation of Supervised Release.

Detectives are still searching for the remaining two teenagers who approached Santos-Brown. The St. Petersburg Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding their identities or the shooting to contact them at 727-893-7780.
