TAMPA, Fla. — An 18-year-old driver escaped injury Tuesday morning after losing control of his car on Interstate 275 and crashing through two fences into an apartment complex, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The single-vehicle crash occurred around 8:05 a.m. along northbound I-275, just north of Fletcher Avenue. State troopers said the Tampa teen was driving a Toyota Avalon equipped with worn tires on the wet roadway when he lost control.
The vehicle veered off the highway, crossed onto the shoulder, and overturned. The car smashed through two fences before finally coming to a stop on the grounds of an adjacent apartment complex.
Authorities confirmed that the driver reported no injuries in the wreck.
Following the initial investigation, troopers charged the 18-year-old with traveling too fast for conditions and a learner’s license violation.
