A chaotic scene unfolded at a Port St. Lucie McDonald’s on Tuesday night after a 16-year-old accidentally shot himself while trying to rob another person of an e-bike.
Local police rushed to the fast-food chain on Port St. Lucie Boulevard around 9:00 p.m. following reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found the teenager bleeding from two gunshot wounds to his leg.
Paramedics quickly moved the boy to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated his injuries, which were confirmed to be non-life-threatening.
The investigation eventually revealed that the “victim” was actually the aggressor. Detectives say the 16-year-old approached another juvenile who was riding an e-bike and demanded that they hand it over. During the attempted robbery, the teen fired his weapon, but the bullets struck his own leg instead of the intended target, according to 12 NEWS.

At the scene, crime technicians found a handgun and several magazines. They also seized cell phones from everyone involved to piece together the full story. By the end of the night, three teens were in handcuffs.
The 16-year-old shooter is now facing charges of robbery with a firearm, possession of a weapon by a minor, and violation of probation.
Two other teens were also arrested and charged with robbery with a firearm and tampering with evidence. All three suspects were processed and taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice as the investigation continues.
