A Tennessee woman is in custody facing a first-degree murder charge after police say she shot and killed her 2-year-old daughter on Thursday.
Officers with the Humboldt Police Department were dispatched to a local residence, where they discovered Ephreana Brady on the front porch. According to investigators, Brady was holding her unresponsive toddler, who had suffered a gunshot wound, while holding a handgun to her own head.
Police at the scene disarmed Brady and took the child from her arms to provide medical aid. First responders transported the 2-year-old girl to a nearby hospital, where medical staff later pronounced her dead.
Following an initial investigation, authorities determined that Brady was responsible for the gunfire that killed the toddler.
Police booked Brady on charges of first-degree murder and employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. Additional details regarding court appearances and bond have not yet been released.
