Senator calls for immediate termination of employee who allegedly celebrated the assassination of political figure Charlie Kirk, citing a pattern of “bad actors” within the agency.
U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) has called for the immediate termination of a U.S. Secret Service agent following a report that the employee celebrated the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk on social media.
The demand, made in a letter to Secret Service Director Sean Curran, comes amid heightened scrutiny of the agency’s conduct and operational integrity.
According to a copy of the letter dated September 11, 2025, the unnamed agent posted on social media, “if you are Mourning this guy . . delete me.”
The post continued, “He spewed hate and racism on his show,” and concluded with the comment, “you can’t circumvent karma, she doesnt leave.”

Senator Blackburn’s letter states that the employee “celebrated and attempted to justify a political assassination.” She implored Director Curran to “immediately terminate his employment” in the “strongest possible terms,” arguing that such conduct is “inexcusable.”
The senator’s correspondence also criticized the Secret Service more broadly, citing what she described as a series of past failures. She referenced “a massive operational failure” under former Director Kimberly Cheatle that “nearly led to President Trump’s assassination in Butler, Pennsylvania.”

The letter also pointed to a second assassination attempt on the president two months later and stated that it took “two assassination attempts before the Secret Service finally elevated President Trump’s security detail to that of a sitting president.”
Blackburn concluded her letter by emphasizing the need for accountability and reform within the agency. “This incident today makes clear that—one year later—bad actors must be rooted out of your agency,” she wrote. “President Trump—and all Secret Service protectees—deserve nothing less.”
