A former youth soccer coach in Tennessee will spend the next three decades in federal prison after an investigation uncovered a years-long pattern of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
Camilo Campos-Hurtado, a Mexican national who entered the United States illegally at an unknown date and location, was sentenced on July 2 to 30 years in prison.
The sentencing follows his June 17, 2025, guilty plea to four counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receiving child sexual abuse material (CSAM), and two counts related to possessing and using fraudulent immigration and identification documents.
The case against Campos-Hurtado began in 2023 in Franklin, Tennessee. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Tennessee, an individual discovered explicit videos on a cell phone that Campos-Hurtado had accidentally left behind at a local business. The individual immediately turned the device over to the Franklin Police Department.
The subsequent investigation was led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), with assistance from local police and the U.S. Marshals Service.
Investigators determined that between 2017 and 2021, while working as a soccer coach, Campos-Hurtado used drugs or alcohol to incapacitate underage victims before sexually abusing them and recording the assaults.
Furthermore, a forensic analysis of his electronic devices revealed that he had been producing child sexual abuse material since 2013.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Monica R. Morrison and Kathryn D. Risinger. Following the sentencing, the Department of Homeland Security issued a statement regarding the final outcome of the case and the defendant’s future immigration status.
“This criminal illegal alien pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting children and child pornography charges after he repeatedly drugged and assaulted children while he was working as a soccer coach,” said Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis. “This child predator will now be behind bars for 30 years. If he is ever released, ICE will immediately remove him from the country. He will never again harm another child in our country.”
