The morning commute in San Antonio turned into a nightmare on Friday when a simple traffic frustration escalated into a horrific act of violence. What started as a driver honking at a neighbor ended with a 10-year-old girl fighting for her life in a hospital bed, the victim of a split-second decision involving a firearm.
The chaos began in a quiet residential area when Bryan Arceo, 27, reportedly backed his vehicle out of a driveway with enough aggression to startle passing motorists.
When a nearby driver tapped their horn, the situation turned deadly. Instead of a wave or a shouted apology, Arceo allegedly pulled a handgun and opened fire on the vehicle.
One of those rounds pierced the car’s exterior and struck the young girl as she sat in the back seat.

While two adults in the car managed to escape the gunfire physically unscathed, the child suffered a critical wound to the torso. Emergency responders rushed her to a local trauma center, where she remains in stable but life-threatening condition.
The shooter didn’t stick around to see the damage he’d caused.
He fled the scene immediately, sparking a massive, coordinated manhunt across the city. The response was an “all-hands” moment for local law enforcement; patrol units, covert detectives, and a SWAT team worked in tandem to track Arceo’s movements.
Within hours, officers cornered the suspect and took him into custody without further bloodshed.
