A 23-year-old Texas man will spend at least 30 years in prison for attacking and kidnapping a pregnant convenience store clerk in Montgomery County.
A jury found Logan Michael Parker guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping on August 5. The next day, after a short deliberation, the jury sentenced him to two concurrent life sentences in state prison. Under Texas law, Parker cannot apply for parole for at least 30 years.
According to trial evidence, Parker went into a gas station on State Highway 105 shortly after midnight to buy a drink. When his payment card was declined, the clerk used her employee discount so he could have the drink for free.
Minutes later, Parker came back, parked behind the store, turned off his headlights, and went inside. He forced the clerk into a bathroom, threatened her life, sexually assaulted her, and stole her phone. After he fled, the victim hid in the store until customers arrived and called 911.
Investigators from the Conroe Police Department used security video, phone records, vehicle tracking, and DNA evidence to identify and arrest Parker.
Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill and Division Chief Shanna Redwine led the prosecution.
“This case was built on three things: a survivor’s courage, exceptional police work, and the facts,” Hill said. “The Conroe Police Department conducted an outstanding investigation, and the evidence left no question about who committed these crimes. The jury recognized that, and because of their verdict, a dangerous offender has been removed from our community.”
District Attorney Mike Holley also praised the victim and the law enforcement team.
“The facts of this case are difficult to read because they reveal calculated evil,” Holley said. “A woman showed this defendant compassion. He repaid that kindness by returning to the store and committing an unspeakable act of violence against the very person who helped him. Thanks to extraordinary courage of the survivor, the outstanding work of the Conroe Police Department, and the commitment of Chief Prosecutor Laura Hill, Division Chief Shanna Redwine, and the entire prosecution team, this defendant will spend at least the next three decades behind bars before he is eligible for parole.”
