A 31-year-old mother is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting her four children over the weekend in Angleton, Texas, killing two of them.

Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman announced on Sunday that the woman has been charged with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held on a $14 million bond.

The incident, which authorities described as a “senseless tragedy,” occurred inside a vehicle on Saturday. A 13-year-old and a 4-year-old child were fatally shot. The two surviving children, ages 8 and 9, were flown by medical helicopter to a Houston-area hospital and are reported to be in “stable condition,” according to Stallman.

Authorities were alerted to the shooting after the mother herself called 911. A weapon was recovered at the scene.

Sheriff Stallman, in a statement to reporters, expressed his commitment to the case, saying, “It is impossible to make sense of a senseless tragedy like this, but we will do everything we can to seek justice for these children.”

The mother is a resident of Montgomery County, located north of Houston. The shooting took place in Angleton, the county seat of Brazoria County, which is approximately 45 miles south of Houston.
