In a powerful letter delivered to top House Republican leaders on September 11, 2025, a group of representatives, led by Rep. Chip Roy, requested the formation of a select committee to investigate what they call a “coordinated anti-American assault.”

The lawmakers argue that a well-funded network of NGOs, donors, media, and public officials are responsible for a sustained breakdown of law and order, leading to violence against Americans.

The letter, addressed to Speaker Mike Johnson, Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, and Oversight Chairman James Comer, claims that a “well-funded, vitriolic cadre” is at war with the nation’s core values. It points to several recent high-profile tragedies as evidence of this alleged conspiracy.

The representatives specifically mention the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk just this week, noting that it occurred after he was placed on the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) “Hate Map.” The letter also cites the 2017 shooting of Republican lawmakers at a baseball practice and the 2024 assassination attempt on President Trump as part of a larger pattern of political violence.

Beyond targeting politicians, the letter highlights the perceived link between radical organizations and a rise in violent crime. It accuses groups like Antifa of funding “sophisticated terror campaigns” and points to figures like George Soros and the Wren Collective for funding district attorneys and judges who allegedly release dangerous criminals. The letter provides heartbreaking examples, including the recent murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska and the paralysis of former Marine Jimmy Friesenhahn.

The letter also connects the violence to border security. The representatives state that a “deliberately wide-open border” has allowed dangerous individuals to enter the country, leading to the deaths of innocent Americans like Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin, all of whom were allegedly murdered by assailants who had illegally crossed the border.

The lawmakers are requesting a full, stand-alone committee with subpoena powers and authority to “follow the money” and expose the “perpetrators” of this network. The signatories of the letter believe the committee should be comprised of members with prosecutorial and law enforcement backgrounds to ensure a thorough investigation.

The letter concludes with a plea for all colleagues to join the call to action and “haul all of these actors before Congress and get to the truth behind the coordinated global network funding and fueling this attack on Americans.”
