Rep. Jasmine Crockett says administration’s actions and resistance to transparency on Jeffrey Epstein’s case indicate an effort to “protect pedophiles and criminals.”
As the push to release the full Jeffrey Epstein files gains momentum on Capitol Hill, a prominent House Democrat has leveled a serious accusation against the current administration.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), a member of both the House Oversight and Judiciary Committees, stated that the administration is going to “the lengths that this administration will go to protect pedophiles to protect criminals.”
The comments came during an interview Sunday on MSNBC with host Alex Witt, where Rep. Crockett was asked about the ongoing efforts by lawmakers to force a vote on a discharge petition that would compel the release of all Epstein-related documents. This effort is gaining traction with bipartisan support, but lawmakers leading the charge say they are facing pressure from the White House.

In her remarks, Crockett questioned the resistance from the administration and others in the “establishment” to the legislation, suggesting that it points to a desire to conceal information. She referenced the recent emotional testimony of Epstein survivors, noting that their stories make it impossible to see the issue as merely political. “It’s about a morality issue,” she said, highlighting the bipartisan frustration over the lack of transparency.
Crockett’s strong language stems from what she described as a pattern of behavior from the administration. She specifically criticized the Justice Department’s request to deny the unsealing of certain Epstein associates’ names, citing “privacy concerns.”

Crockett dismissed this justification, calling it a “break” and arguing that the privacy of those involved should not be prioritized over the suffering of the survivors.
She also pointed to what she called the “unbelievable” and “laughable” claim that Epstein was an informant who helped take down his own operation, a statement she said only deepens suspicion. According to Crockett, the refusal to fully cooperate with the investigation and the alleged actions of federal agencies indicate high-level assistance in Epstein’s crimes.
“You can’t get through immigration without the federal government… like you can’t continue to abuse women while you’re incarcerated by the federal government, unless somebody on a high level within the federal government is assisting you in this,” she said.
The Texas lawmaker’s remarks underscore the deep divisions and intense scrutiny surrounding the Epstein case.
While supporters of the discharge petition are confident they are close to the 218 signatures needed to force a floor vote, Crockett expressed less certainty, stating that the American people need to pressure their representatives, specifically Republicans, to sign the petition.
