Democratic Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett of Texas delivered a strong rebuke of the President, calling him “obsessed, ignorant, and out of touch” after he questioned her intelligence in a recent exchange with reporters.
The controversy began when the President, while speaking on Air Force One, brought up both Rep. Crockett and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, suggesting they both have a “low IQ” and would fail a cognitive test he claimed to have taken.
He described the test questions, saying, “a tiger an elephant a giraffe… when you get up to about five or six and then when you get up to 10 and 20 and 25 they couldn’t come close to answering any of those questions.” RELATED: Trump Rips Future Of Democratic Party Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett As “Low-IQ”
Crockett fired back on CNN, stating, “I’m waiting on a reporter… to finally ask him what is his IQ because he is constantly talking about he doesn’t even know what a low IQ is.” She suggested that the President has never been known to be an “Einstein” and likely would not have achieved his current position “but for him being born with a silver spoon.”
The Congresswoman also framed the President’s comments as a pattern of behavior.
“You have a president of the United States who consistently is obsessing over two women of color that are members of the house,” she said, adding that he “consistently feel[s] threatened.”
Crockett also addressed the President’s suggestion of a possible “third term” in office, calling the idea “a very scary thing” and “unconstitutional.” She urged the public to take the ‘threat’ seriously, referencing the events of January 6th as an indication that he “didn’t want to leave the house last time.”
Beyond the personal remarks, Rep. Crockett used the CNN interview to criticize the President’s handling of the government funding standoff and potential cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
She accused Trump of prioritizing a White House ballroom renovation over the financial pain of the American people, despite his assurance that “everybody’s going to be in good shape.”
She argued that the administration is “trying to make sure that they can place blame” for the SNAP funding crisis, noting that the party in control of the White House, House, and Senate is expected to find solutions.
