A 44-year-old Texas woman is facing charges after police discovered her father’s decomposing body inside a filthy mobile home.

Crystal Martin, 44, is charged with abuse of a corpse and resisting arrest.

Bellmead police were dispatched to a mobile home in the 4000 block of E. Harris on October 22. They found the body of 66-year-old Jerry Freeman lying on the floor.

According to the arrest warrant, the body was decomposed and covered in “filth from the multiple dogs in the house.”

Police allege Martin, the victim’s daughter, had been in the residence with the body and failed to report the death or care for her father’s remains.

A neighbor told local KWTX that health care workers performing a wellness check were the ones who found the body and alerted authorities.

Martin and Freeman had reportedly lived together in the trailer since 2009. Martin is currently behind bars.
