An investigation into a fatal drug overdose from last year has culminated in a manslaughter arrest, authorities announced.
The Edgewater Police Department arrested Daniel Johnson after linking him to the death of Isaac Bowen, who died from a drug overdose on April 21, 2024. According to law enforcement, detectives identified Johnson as the supplier of the narcotics that caused Bowen’s death. Investigators built their case using digital evidence recovered during the probe, which included text messages, photographs, and video footage depicting Johnson acquiring the drugs for Bowen.
Following the investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant charging Johnson with manslaughter, setting his bond at $150,000. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office located Johnson and took him into custody, where he currently remains.

Police records show this is not Johnson’s first arrest in recent months. On November 11, 2025, he was arrested on child neglect charges following an incident where his child called 911. Investigators reported that Johnson had instructed the child on how to administer Narcan to him if he experienced an overdose.
The manslaughter case was handled by Detective Cresenzi and the Edgewater Police Department Investigative Services Section – Criminal Investigations Unit.
“Our hearts remain with the Bowen family,” the Edgewater Police Department said in a statement. “While nothing can undo the pain of losing Isaac, we are thankful this case has moved forward and his family now has some measure of closure.”
