The Epstein Files: Bongino Steps Into The Line Of Fire To Shield Trump Admin

Dan Bongino has never been one to shy away from a fight, but his latest defense of the Trump administration’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case might be his most controversial stance yet.

Fresh out of the FBI and back behind the microphone for the first episode of “The Dan Bongino Show,” the former deputy director spent a significant portion of Monday’s broadcast addressing the growing frustration within his own camp.

For months, supporters of Donald Trump have been waiting for a “smoking gun” or a definitive “client list” that would blow the roof off the global elite. When the Department of Justice released a memo earlier this month stating no such list existed—and that there was no evidence of foul play in Epstein’s jail-cell death—the backlash was immediate and fierce.

Bongino, however, isn’t buying the betrayal narrative, insisting that the administration did the best they could with a case that was inherited as a total disaster.

Leadership, according to Bongino, is about making the least terrible choice when every option on the table is bad. He described the Epstein investigation as a “level 10” mess, hampered by poorly scoped search warrants and years of mismanagement that predated the Trump era.

He told his audience that in a situation this messy, you’re bound to “piss someone off.” He also took a sharp jab at the Biden team, claiming they did “zero” to get the information out to the public, whereas the Trump administration actually moved the needle.

Bongino’s core argument is that the files simply didn’t contain the bombshell evidence everyone—himself included—expected to find. He admitted that after getting elected and finally looking under the hood, the reality of the evidence didn’t match the public’s perception of what was hidden in the vaults.

But while Bongino is calling for unity and blaming “foreign operations” for trying to sew discord among the base, the technical details of the case continue to raise eyebrows. Back in May, Bongino told “Fox & Friends” that upcoming DOJ footage would prove “clear as day” that Epstein took his own life.

The reality has been far murkier. An analysis by CBS News of the July video release showed a feed that was anything but clear. The footage didn’t provide a direct line of sight to Epstein’s cell door, and more strangely, the digital clock on the recording skipped over a full minute right at the most critical time. When the picture returned, the aspect ratio had shifted, leading experts to suggest the footage had been reprocessed or edited.

This technical inconsistency adds fuel to a fire that Dr. Michael Baden, a forensic pathologist hired by Epstein’s brother, has been stoking for years. Baden has pointed to autopsy findings—specifically fractures in Epstein’s neck—that he argues are more consistent with homicidal strangulation than a self-inflicted hanging.

Between the “jumping” video clocks and the conflicting medical opinions, the public’s skepticism isn’t just a product of online rumors. Bongino is essentially asking his listeners to accept the facts as the administration presented them and move on, warning that dwelling on the “bullshit” only serves to divide the movement from within. Whether his audience is ready to close the book on the Epstein saga remains to be seen, but Bongino is clearly ready to turn the page.
