The Vault Is Open: Government Launches Massive Online Hub for Declassified UFO Files

The Department of War has officially launched a first-of-its-kind digital archive containing previously classified documents, videos, and photos of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP).

This initiative, titled the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE), represents a massive interagency collaboration involving the White House, the Department of Energy, NASA, the FBI, and the All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO).

The new database is now live at WAR.GOV/UFO. According to officials, the repository will serve as a permanent home for UAP data, with the government committed to releasing additional files on a rolling basis. The move follows a direct order from President Donald J. Trump to identify and declassify government holdings related to these phenomena in the interest of public transparency.

While the documents have undergone security reviews to protect sensitive intelligence methods, officials noted that many of the materials have not yet been fully analyzed or resolved. This allows the public to view original source documents and footage simultaneously with government investigators.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth stated that the department is working in lockstep with the President to end decades of speculation. “These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves,” Hegseth said. He described the release as a demonstration of an “earnest commitment to unprecedented transparency.”

The effort is being coordinated across the Intelligence Community by Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. She noted that her office is working closely with the Department of War to ensure a “careful, comprehensive, and unprecedented review” of all current holdings. Gabbard confirmed that today’s digital release is only the beginning of a long-term joint effort.

FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized that the bureau would maintain its usual rigor while supporting the declassification process.

“For the first time in history, the American people have unfettered access to declassified government files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon,” Patel said. He added that while transparency is the goal, national security remains the top priority during the review of subsequent batches.

NASA is also playing a key role in the scientific side of the initiative. Administrator Jared Isaacman highlighted the agency’s mission to use advanced scientific instruments to analyze the data.

“We will remain candid about what we know to be true, what we have yet to understand, and all that remains to be discovered,” Isaacman said, framing the project as part of NASA’s broader mission to “unlock the secrets of the universe.”

The public can now access the files instantly without the need for security clearances. The government plans to update the site regularly as more documents clear the review process.
