In a fiery statement posted to his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, President Donald Trump claimed credit for driving NATO member contributions to unprecedented levels while simultaneously casting doubt on the alliance’s willingness to defend the United States.

Characterizing the geopolitical landscape as heavily dependent on his personal involvement, the President asserted that without his pressure, members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization would still be failing to meet financial obligations.

“Remember, for all of those big NATO fans, they were at 2% GDP, and most weren’t paying their bills, UNTIL I CAME ALONG,” Trump wrote. He stated that the United States had been “foolishly” covering the costs for other nations before he intervened.

In a specific claim regarding defense spending, Trump wrote that he “respectfully, got them to 5% GDP, AND THEY PAY, immediately.” He attributed this success to his personal relationships with world leaders, noting, “beyond all else, they are all my friends.”

The President’s post covered a wide range of foreign policy topics, including the ongoing situation in Eastern Europe. Trump stated definitively that “Russia would have ALL OF UKRAINE right now” were it not for his involvement. He also touted his record on conflict resolution, claiming to have “single-handedly ENDED 8 WARS.”

The statement also included a sharp rebuke of Norway, a NATO member nation. Trump expressed frustration that the country “foolishly chose not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize,” though he dismissed the snub by adding, “But that doesn’t matter! What does matter is that I saved Millions of Lives.”

Turning his attention to potential future conflicts, Trump warned that major adversaries like Russia and China “HAVE ZERO FEAR OF NATO WITHOUT THE UNITED STATES.” He went a step further, questioning whether the alliance would reciprocate American support in a crisis.

“I DOUBT NATO WOULD BE THERE FOR US IF WE REALLY NEEDED THEM,” Trump wrote. Despite this skepticism, he pledged that the U.S. would continue to support the alliance, stating, “We will always be there for NATO, even if they won’t be there for us.”

The President concluded his message by highlighting his efforts to rebuild the U.S. military during his first term and his current administration, asserting that the only nation commanding respect from rivals is a “DJT REBUILT U.S.A.”
