White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Stephen Miller criticized progressives during a television appearance, asserting that the movement focuses on dismantling existing societal structures rather than creating new ones.
In an interview on FOX News Channel’s The Will Cain Show with host Will Cain, Miller addressed discussions surrounding progressive political trends and commented on remarks previously made by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) regarding American history and democracy.
During the broadcast, Miller framed progressive policies as being centered on destruction and redistribution.
“It’s an ideology that looks at what civilization built and is envious and hateful and jealous and says, I will take, I will steal, I will dismantle, I will destroy, and I will redistribute everything that you have built,” Miller said.
Miller specifically pointed to policy debates around law enforcement and public safety, arguing that calls to defund or reform police departments in major metropolitan areas have negatively impacted public safety. He pointed to administration initiatives in Washington, D.C., as a contrast, claiming credit for significant reductions in local violent crime rates.
Addressing broad political and social policy disputes, Miller asserted that progressive candidates and groups consistently oppose the administration’s policy initiatives across multiple areas, including border security, criminal justice, and education.
“Because when you strip away all this woke labeling, it’s hatred for America, and it’s hatred for the people who have made America great,” Miller said. “It’s hatred for the people who build and sustain things.”
Miller concluded his remarks by framing the conservative “America First” movement as a counter effort aimed at preserving traditional American institutions and values against progressive opposition.
