President Joe Biden and Former President Trump

Third Times A Charm: Biden Validates Trump’s Policy Ideas Three Separate Times

Three times, in three different policy spheres, the Biden administration has done the impossible, if not the unthinkable.

Conceded that former President Donald Trump was right.

In one example, Trump predicted back in September that the COVID-19 vaccine would be available to every American in April.

When Trump said that seven months ago the criticism from the liberal media cascaded down on him as another Trump know-nothing moment.

“Trump says, without evidence, every American will get coronavirus vaccine by April,” said a Washington Post headline at the time. CNN added, “Trump says every American can get a coronavirus vaccine by April, but health experts say that’s not likely.” The New York Times chimed in with, “Top U.S. Health Officials Tiptoe Around Trump’s Vaccine Timeline,” and added in its article, “The administration’s experts tried to find a way to support both the president and the reality of scientific and medical constraints he doesn’t always recognize.”

Yet the Biden administration just announced that every American would be eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine this month – at least a month earlier than the target President Joe Biden originally stated.

The second time Biden’s team validated Trump was on the border.

Few things drove liberals to rage and hysteria like Trump championing the “big beautiful wall” he wanted on the Mexican border.

Biden made it a point to black funding for the wall on his first day in office.

Biden terminated Trump’s declaration of an “emergency” on the border, and in an executive order noted, “Building a massive wall that spans the entire southern border is not a serious policy solution.  It is a waste of money that diverts attention from genuine threats to our homeland security. … It shall be the policy of my administration that no more American taxpayer dollars be diverted to construct a border wall.”

Biden ended the emergency and immediately launched a crisis, as illegal immigrants have crashed the border in numbers that Border Patrol agents have not seen in 20 years.

On Monday, The Washington Times reported that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas told his staff last week that “he may restart border wall construction to plug what he called ‘gaps’ in the current barrier.”

“The president has communicated quite clearly his decision that the emergency that triggered the devotion of DOD funds to the construction of the border wall is ended,” Mayorkas reportedly told his staff.

“But that leaves room to make decisions as to the administration, as part of the administration, in particular areas of the wall that need renovation, particular projects that need to be finished.”

Republican lawmakers have notified Biden that his decision was unconstitutional because Congress had appropriated funding to build the wall, and it is his job to faithfully execute the law.

After Mayorkas’ comments emerged, Trump told Newsmax, “We started building it and we were almost finished and then they called an end to it. And it’s, you know, just incredible. But if they agree that they’re going to complete it – there’s very little to complete. If they agree that they’re going to complete it, that’s a great thing. That’s a very positive step.”

Finally, on Wednesday, according to The Epoch Times, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told reporters at a White House briefing that “the Trump administration’s tariffs on steel and aluminum saved American jobs.”

“With respect to tariffs, there is a place for tariffs. The 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum have in fact helped save American jobs in the steel and aluminum industries,” Raimondo told reporters.

“So what do we do with tariffs? We have to level the playing field. No one can out-compete the American worker if the playing field is level,” she added. “And the fact is, China’s actions are uncompetitive, coercive, underhanded. They’ve proven they’ll do whatever it takes. And so I plan to use all the tools in my toolbox as aggressively as possible to protect American workers and businesses from unfair Chinese practices.”

This was the second time Raimondo had supported Trump on the tariffs.

A month ago, she told MSNBC, “The data show that those tariffs have been effective.”

“What President Biden has said is there will be a whole-of-government review of all of these policies and decide what it makes sense to maintain.”

With Biden affirming Trump on three of the biggest policy divides – COVID vaccines, border wall, and treating China as a harsh economic rival – one wonders where else Biden will follow Trump – and if so, why we got rid of Trump in the first place.
