Former ESPN and MSNBC host Keith Olbermann deleted a post on X, formerly Twitter, on Monday evening that appeared to threaten CNN commentator Scott Jennings.
The post, which was screenshotted and circulated online, showed Olbermann responding to one of Scott Jennings’ tweets with the phrases, “You’re next, motherf***r,” and “But keep mugging to the camera.”
While the original post is no longer visible on Olbermann’s account, Jennings reposted a screenshot of the comment and tagged FBI Director Kash Patel, asking for the agency to take notice.
The incident has intensified concerns over political rhetoric and potential violence, especially in the wake of the recent assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.
The specific tweet from Jennings that provoked Olbermann’s comment remains unconfirmed, but one of Jennings’ recent posts discussed the lifting of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension, noting that Democrats were complaining about freedom of speech being impinged upon.
The assassination of Charlie Kirk has brought the issue of political violence to the forefront, with some online commentators celebrating the event.
