TAMPA, Fla. – Three people are in custody after an early morning armed robbery outside a Tampa hotel on July 23, 2026.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the victim met 20-year-old Angelina Johnson at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino earlier that morning. The victim then drove to his hotel, an Extended Stay America on East Sligh Avenue, where Johnson and two men approached him in the parking lot.
Investigators identified the two men as Mario Dejournett, 22, and Tyrik Griffin, 22. During the interaction, Dejournett and Griffin pulled out guns and stole the victim’s wallet and jewelry before all three suspects fled.
Detectives subsequently identified the suspects and secured arrest warrants for all three individuals.
Deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office arrested Johnson and Dejournett on July 24, 2026. Both were transferred and booked into Hillsborough County’s Orient Road Jail on July 29, 2026.
Pinellas County deputies arrested Griffin on July 31, 2026. He remains in custody awaiting transfer to Hillsborough County.
All three suspects face charges of Robbery With a Firearm ($750 or More But Less Than $20,000).
“This was a coordinated, violent crime that left the victim shaken and robbed at gunpoint,” Sheriff Chad Chronister said. “Thanks to the diligent work of our detectives and the assistance of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, all three suspects have been identified and taken into custody. We remain committed to holding violent offenders accountable and ensuring they face justice.”
