HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. – A Saturday afternoon drive turned fatal in Hernando County after a multi-vehicle collision left one woman dead and two others injured at the crossing of Horizon Drive and Spring Hill Drive.
According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident began around 12:05 PM on March 28, 2026. A 75-year-old woman from Spring Hill was behind the wheel of a Kia Forte, heading north on Horizon Drive. As she entered the intersection with Spring Hill Drive, she pulled directly into the path of an oncoming Mercedes SUV.
The driver of the Mercedes, a 64-year-old Spring Hill man, was traveling eastbound and was unable to avoid the Kia. The force of the initial impact sent both vehicles spinning. While the Mercedes eventually came to a stop in the eastbound lanes, the Kia continued to rotate further into the path of westbound traffic.
